Privilege of Steel and Nickel Wastes

Summary

The Industry Ministry will exclude nickel and steel slags from the hazardous and toxic waste list. The ministry’s head of research and development center for green industry and environment, Teddy C. Sianturi, argued that steel slags could generate an added-value to other commodities. However, the Environment and Forestry Ministry banned the illegal usage of the wastes.

Teddy also ensured that he would consult with the Environment and Forestry Ministry to solve the matter. He hoped that the ministry would not only simplify the distribution and storage permits but also not criminalize the companies violating the regulation on steel slag usage.
