Jokowi’s Megadeal from Dubai
The government and several businesses signed 16 agreements with the United Arab Emirates on the sidelines of President Joko Widodo's visit to the country earlier this week. The deal consists of five inter-governmental cooperation agreements and 11 business cooperation between both countries. "The United Arab Emirates is an important economic partner of Indonesia," Jokowi said on Monday, January 13, 2020.
The inter-governmental cooperation exists in education, religion, agriculture, health, and combating terrorism. Meanwhile, the 11 business agreements cover the energy, oil and gas, petrochemical, port, telecommunications, and research sectors with a value of US$ 22.89 billion. The stages of cooperation vary, starting from the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) & Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and Letters of Intent (LoI) signing.
