MIND ID’s New Head Gathers Pace on Vale Acquisition

The government appoints Orias Petrus Moedak as the Managing Director of Mining Industry Indonesia (MIND ID), a holding that oversees state-owned mining companies. Orias, who previously served as Deputy Director of PT Freeport Indonesia, started his new position from November 25, 2019.

Special Staff of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Arya Sinulingga, said Orias was chosen on the back of his experience in the mining business. Before joining Freeport, in 2018, Orias was once the Finance Director of MIND ID, the then-named PT Inalum. He also held similar positions at PT Bukit Asam Tbk and PT Pelindo II.

Orias faces a tough task in leading MIND ID. In addition to improving the mining companies’ performance under the MIND ID such as Bukit Asam, Aneka Tambang, and Freeport, he also must complete the divestment of private mining companies to the government.
