Brace for Recession, The Government Turns to The Armed Forces
Starting last week to Monday, President Joko Widodo gathered military and police regional commanders at the Presidential Palace in closed meetings and was not listed in the official presidential agenda publication. On November 14, Jokowi held a meeting with the entire Commander of the Army Regional Military Command (Kodam), Type A Military Resort Command (Korem) and Regional Police (Polda) Chiefs throughout Indonesia. On Monday (11/18), the meeting continued with the commander of the Air Force and Navy Territorial Command.
According to the President's Special Staff for Communications Fadjroel Rachman, at the meetings, the president ordered all military and police commanders to oversee the development agenda such as human resource development, infrastructure development, simplification of bureaucracy and regulation and economic transformation. They were ordered to guarantee security in the region to encourage the investment climate and improve the economic development of the community.
