B30 Distribution Trials Excite Palm Oil Producers
The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM) will gradually start a series of trials on B30, a blend of 30 percent biodiesel, distribution. To support the plan, the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Arifin Tasrif on Monday (11/18) said the government had already prepared supplementary fatty acid methyl ester (FAME), so the companies mixing the solar with the palm oil could accelerate the production of the fuels.
The trials will start in eight fuel terminals (TBBM) in Rewulu, Medan, Balikpapan, Plumpang, Kasim, Plaju, Panjang, and Boyolali through pipe networks, trucks, and tankers from November until December 2019. During the trials, the government will record the data of the ideal increase of water content in biodiesel. Previously, Gaikindo or the Association of Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers requested that the maximum water content for B30 fuel should be around 200 milligrams per kilogram. The high level of water content is notorious for its negative effect on machines.
