The government relaxed regulations on imports of goods related to the interests of national defense and security. Through the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) No. 164/2019, the government exempts import duties for the import of weapons, ammunition, military equipment, up to spare parts for military equipment and items used for the defense industry.

In addition to military equipment, the government also added an exemption from import duties for equipment that supports the duties of the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) in the cybersecurity sector. This regulation is a revision of PMK No. 107 of 2009. However, in the regulation that came into force on December 5, 2019, the Director-General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance has the authority to refuse the exemption of import duties on these imports, on behalf of the finance minister.
