Coming Soon: Import Ban on 100 Goods

Larangan Impor
Summary

The Ministry of Industry together with the Ministry of Trade will ban the import of goods with 100 harmonized system (HS) codes that have been suspected of being circumvented.

Ministry of Industry’s Functional Officer of the Directorate of Textile, Leather and Footwear Industries Andi Susanto said this ban will be included in the revision of the Minister of Trade Regulation No. 20/2022 concerning Technical Guidelines for Type Approval and the Minister of Trade Regulation No. 25/2022 concerning Import Policy and Regulation. "There are 100 HS codes that have been used as import tricks," he said on Sept 29.

Therefore, Andi added, there are no "rat ways" for problematic imported goods. The government will implement a ban and restriction scheme.

The House of Representatives’ Member of Commission VI Darmadi Durianto previously said many illegal imported goods enter the country, including used textile products, by circumventing the HS code. According to Darmadi, data on imported goods entering Indonesia is not recorded according to the facts. He claimed to have reported it to the Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan. "From China, the data is for example ten, but the import data in Indonesia is only six. There are four that are illegal by changing the HS code," he said on Sept 13.
