Behind Indonesia's Arms Purchase Contracts from the US
The United States Administration approved possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Indonesia of F-15ID Aircraft and related equipment for an estimated cost of $13.9 billion.
The United States administration finally approved the sale of its F-15ID fighter jets and all its equipment to Indonesia, according to a Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) statement on February 10, 2022. " The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Indonesia of F-15ID Aircraft and related equipment for an estimated cost of $13.9 billion. " DSCA said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the Defense Ministry spokesman Brigadier General Sobri admitted that the government intends to buy 36 F-15 aircrafts. "Currently, the purchase is still under discussion," Sobri said on February 11, 2022. In addition to 36 units of F-15ID, there are several equipment that will be purchased from the United States, including:
- 87 units of F110-GE-129 or F100-PW-229 engines (72 installed, 15 spare).
- Advanced Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) AN/APG-82(v)1 radar totaling 45 units (36 installed, 9 spares).
- Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability Systems (EPAWSS) AN/ALQ-250 totaling 45 units (36 installed, 9 spares).
- 48 units of Digital computers on the Advanced Display Core Processor (ADCP) II aircraft (36 installed, 12 spares).
- 80 units of Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing Systems (JHMCS) (72 used, 8 spare).
- 92 units of embedded Global Positioning Systems (GPS)/Inertial Navigation System.
- 40 units LANTIRN AN/AAQ-13 navigation pods (36 installed, 4 spare).
- 40 units of Sniper Advanced Targeting Pods (ATP) AN/AAQ-33 (36 installed, 4 spare).
- 156 LAU-128 missile launchers (144 installed, 12 spare).
- 40 units of M61A Vulcan weapon system (36 installed, 4 spare).
- Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) (P5 CTS) training pods.
- MS-110 Recce Pods.
- AN/ASG-34 Infrared Search and Track International.
- AN/ALE-47 counter-measurement.
