Indonesia's Transportation Ministry reprimands Garuda Maintenance Facility AeroAsia Tbk (GMF AeroAsia) and Citilink for operating 19 problematic aircraft through a letter Number A4-402/8/3/DKPPU.2021, signed by the Director of Airworthiness and Aircraft Operations of the Transportation Ministry, Dadun Kohar. It mentioned that there was a problem with the braking system of the Airbus A320 aircraft operated by Citilink for three months.

The letter stated that, from the hold item list (HIL) status on December 13, 2021, there were 19 aircraft experiencing an open HIL Brake. "In the last three months, there were six brake occurrences (melting, jammed, rotor damages, over-temperature)," the letter specified. Responding to the letter, GMF AeroAsia Vice President Corporate Secretary Rian Fajar Isnaeni claimed to always follow the rules on the airworthiness of airplanes. Meanwhile, Diah Suryani, the Citilink spokesperson, defended the company, assuring that the passenger's safety was paramount. "We entrust all aircraft maintenance to GMF," Diah said on December 24, 2021.
