Job Creation Law: New Faces, Old Problems
The House of Representatives (DPR) finally passed the Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) No. 2/2022 on job creation (Perpu Cipta Kerja) in the fourth session of the 19th plenary on March 21. DPR speaker Puan Maharani made it official despite rejections from the Democratic Party and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).
The PKS faction even walked out of the plenary room during the meeting. PKS representative Bukhori insisted that such an action showed the party's commitment to the Constitutional Court (MK) decision requesting the revision of the Job Creation Bill, including its drafting process.
"It must involve all stakeholders and represent the people's aspirations," he said while adding that the party would remain consistent in rejecting the Job Creation Law.
