UK Govt Eyes Trade and Transport Cooperation with Indonesia
UK Export Minister Andrew Bowie visited Jakarta on Feb 1-2 to discuss plans for trade, investment, and economic cooperation with Indonesia. A statement from the British Embassy in Jakarta on Wednesday said the visit is a follow-up to commitments made in the UK-Indonesia Partnership Roadmap 2022-2024.
During the visit, Minister Bowie will meet with Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi to discuss collaboration in the railway sector. "This is a form of support for Indonesia's sustainable infrastructure development plans," the British Embassy said in a statement.
Bowie will also meet with Minister of Communications and Information Technology Johnny G. Plate and technology industry leaders to discuss Indonesia's digital transformation and strengthen the relationship between the two countries in the field of technology ecosystems. The meeting takes place in preparation for the UK-Southeast Asia Tech Week in Jakarta and Bangkok on March 13-17.
