The Trade Ministry is waiting for the World Trade Organization's (WTO) decision on the European Union's discriminative treatment of palm oil. Deputy Trade Minister Jerry Sambuaga was sure Indonesia's stance in the global palm oil industry would greatly help. "We are optimistic and believe we will win the dispute," he said Monday.

Coordinating Economic Ministry's assistant deputy for plantation and agribusiness development Edy Yusuf said the WTO panel report would be out early this year. Meanwhile, the Trade Ministry's director of trade security Natan Kambuno suspected that the slow settlement process was due to the fact that the WTO's Appellate Body was not functioning.
