Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir officially ran as a candidate for General Chair of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) 2023-2027 at the association's extraordinary congress on Feb 16. When registering on Sunday, Erick said he wants to fix the chaotic condition of national football. "What PSSI needs is a breakthrough to create a supportive ecosystem for the national football industry," Erick said.

Erick Thohir registered with the support of football club leaders who are the holders of voting rights, including Chief Executive Officer Persis Solo Kaesang Pangarep; Chairman of RANS Nusantara FC Raffi Ahmad; and FC Bekasi City owner Atta Halilintar. Popular entertainer Raffi Ahmad admits that he supports Erick Thohir as General Chair of PSSI because he believes Erick can change the face of national football.
