Foreign Investors Take Opportunities from Second Home Visa
Foreign property developers are ready to take advantage of second-home visa rules. Nongsa Resorts Group Director Gerald Hendrik said the company would make world billionaires interested in living in Indonesia, including Singaporeans, to live in Batam, Riau Islands. This is because the distance between Batam and Singapore is very close. "Second-home visa will bring fresh air to the property business," Gerald said Monday.
According to Gerald, this policy allows foreign entrepreneurs to run their businesses from Indonesia. Besides entrepreneurs, second-home visas will be attractive to nomads and retirement tourists. Gerald also suggested that the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights create a visa-on-arrival (VOA) policy for short visits at a lower price to further attract short-distance foreign tourists such as Singapore. "The opportunity for income from tourists is high because they will not only pay for hotel rooms but will also spend," he said.
