Elon Musk: Indonesia Plays an Important Role in the EV Ecosystem

Summary

Tesla Inc CEO Elon Musk talked about nickel and Indonesia's contribution to the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. Indonesia controls nickel supply as the main material for long-distance electric vehicle batteries. "The combination of sustainable mining, renewable energy generation, and the overall advancement of connectivity and education will make a huge contribution," Musk said at the B20 Summit in Bali on Monday.

During a virtual conversation hosted by PT Bakrie and Brothers Tbk (BNBR) President Director Anindya Bakrie, Musk refused to explain further about Tesla's business plan and investment opportunities in Indonesia. He only said he was thinking about making much more affordable electric vehicles. "I can't speak too much about the future Tesla products, but we do think about making much more affordable vehicles than we do now," he said.
