Summary

The government plans to establish a special task force to eradicate criminal acts in the financial sector, a source familiar with the matter said. This task force comes from various agencies related to crime and finance. "One of its duties is like Densus 88 in eradicating terrorism," the source said some time ago.

Last year, President Joko Widodo summoned the Head Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) at that time, Dian Erdiana Rae, to discuss financial crimes. She proposed to form a special team to eradicate criminal acts in the financial sector from several agencies, including the police, prosecutors, PPATK, Financial Services Authority (OJK), Bank Indonesia (BI), Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ministry of Finance, Coordinating Ministry Economic Affairs, and led by the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs.

Jokowi also responded by gathering the institution's leaders for a joint meeting and then appointed the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD to lead the discussion. Until now, the plan's talk is still ongoing and almost final.
