Anies Officially 'Lame Duck', Three Names Proposed as Acting Governor

The Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD DKI Jakarta) proposed the dismissal of Anies Baswedan and Ahmad Riza Patria as governor and deputy governor of Jakarta yesterday. "This is one of the administrative processes for dismissing regional heads and deputy regional heads whose terms of office have ended," DPRD DKI Jakarta Chairman Prasetyo Edi Marsudi said in a statement.

Anies-Riza pair will end their term on October 16. DPRD DKI Jakarta will propose the name of the acting governor after being decided in yesterday's plenary session. They are Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono, Regional Secretary of Jakarta Marullah Matali, and Director General of Politics and General Administration of the Ministry of Home Affairs Bahtiar Baharuddin.
