Indonesia to Drill 750 Idle Wells This Year to Pursue Lifting Target

Summary

The Upstream Oil and Gas Business Regulatory Task Force (SKK Migas) expects to drill 750 idle wells – wells that have been inactive for more than six months – by the end of this year. "The progress is good. Up to now, about 40 percent have been running," Head of SKK Migas Dwi Soetjipto said on Monday.

Drilling idle wells are one of the efforts to achieve the 703,000 barrels per day (BOPD) oil lifting target this year. SKK Migas also encourages Pertamina to be active in auctioning idle wells. "We encourage partnerships with strategic partners. Pertamina is preparing (idle wells auction)," Dwi said.
