Dilemma of Fast Train Tickets, Will Govt Give Subsidies?
PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) will soon set ticket prices for the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail, which will operate in 2023. The ticket price will use various technical calculations involving state-owned enterprises (SOEs), shareholders of the high-speed train operator. One of the KCIC shareholders related to the technical train operation is PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI).
KAI Spokesman Joni Martinus said that ticket prices for the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail range from Rp 250,000 to Rp 350,000. Ticket prices will depend on the class selected by the passenger. One series of high-speed rails consists of eight trains carrying 601 passengers: 18 in VIP class, 28 in First Class, and 555 people in Second Class. "They can travel from Jakarta to Bandung for 36-45 minutes," Joni said on Wednesday.
