Get Ready for Bank Indonesia's Tighter Liquidity
Bank Indonesia (BI) plans to reduce its state securities (SBN) purchase to Rp 224 trillion in 2022 from last year's realization, which reached Rp 473.4 trillion.
BI Governor Perry Wajiyo said the debt securities purchases are carried out to help state finances handle COVID-19, adding that the purchase will be done directly in the primary market.
"(SBN purchases) it's for the health and social protection budget," Perry said at the BI Annual Meeting, Wednesday. From the beginning of the year through November 16, 2021, BI has purchased SBN for Rp. 143.32 trillion in the primary market.
