Bakauheni Harbor City, Sumatra’s Gateway for Investors
The Indonesian government will start the construction of Bakauheni Harbor City (BHC), a new investment and tourism business area in Lampung, in the near future. The State-Owned Enterprises Minister (BUMN) Erick Thohir specified that the site's groundbreaking would take place in the third week of October 2021. The project requires about Rp 45 billion out of a total investment value of Rp 4 trillion for the initial stage.
The government assigned PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry and a consortium of state-owned banks, such as PT Bank Mandiri Tbk and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk, to work on this project. "The first stage will consist of the construction of a grand mosque, creative hub, and MSME center, as well as the revitalization of the Siger Cultural Park," Erick elaborated on Sunday. Meanwhile, the construction of a theme park named Krakatau Park will start in 2022.
