The government will change the capital city status from Jakarta to East Kalimantan in the first half of 2024, based on the Capital City Bill (RUU IKN). The bill also states that it will be the center of state institutions, representatives of foreign countries, and representatives of international organizations or institutions.

The Finance Ministry's spokesperson Puspa Rahayu said a budget worth Rp 510.79 billion was allocated in the government's 2022 Work Plan of Strategic Priority/Major Projects. The budget allocation follows provision stated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 85/2021 on the government's 2022 work plan." This budget will be managed by several ministries/agencies," Puspa explained on Thursday.
