Conflict of Interest Overshadows KPU's Selection Committee

President Joko Widodo issued Presidential Decree No. 120/P/2021 on the appointment of a selection committee for General Elections Commission (KPU) members candidates for 2022-2027. Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian said that the team had been selected on October 8, 2021. They will immediately work to prepare for selecting KPU and General Elections Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) members.

Tito promised that the government would not interfere with the selection team. The Ministry of Home Affairs will only provide feedbacks and suggestions without interfering with the neutrality of the selection team. "This is independent work," Karnavian said on Tuesday.

The committee compositions are:

Chairman and concurrent Member: Jury Ardiantoro

Deputy Chair and Member: Chandra M. Hamzah

Secretary and Member: Bahtiar
