Govt Shares Costs for Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail Project

President Joko Widodo issued Presidential Regulation No. 93/2021, which amended Presidential Regulation No. 107/2015 on the Acceleration of Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail Infrastructure and Facilities. The 17 articles regulation came into effect on October 6, 2021. One of the new clauses is state budget disbursement for the project, which previously used a business-to-business scheme.

State-Owned Enterprises Minister Special Staff Arya Sinulingga said the regulation followed several changes in the high-speed train project. For example, there are design changes due to different geological and geographical conditions. "Almost all countries that build high-speed rail experience the same thing, especially for the first time. There must be changes," Arya said on Saturday. In addition, the SOEs involved in the high-speed rail project are facing financial constraints due to the pandemic, so the government decided to intervene.
