Jokowi-Xi Jinping Connection: From Vaccines to Fast Trains

Indonesia’s President, Joko Widodo, has reportedly talked with the President of China, Xi Jinping, to discuss various bilateral agreements. Xinhua revealed that both of them discussed several things, from the vaccine cooperation to the continuation of the fast train project by telephone on April 20, 2021. - China welcomes Indonesia's intention to synergize the Belt and Road Initiative with Indonesia's vision in the Global Maritime Axis.
- Encouraging more cooperation on infrastructure projects, similar to the Jakarta-Bandung fast train.
- Working on the main project within the Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor.
- Strengthening cooperation in the digital economy.
- Xi Jinping also welcomes Indonesia's efforts to increase exports of quality products to China and will encourage Chinese companies to increase investments in Indonesia. Both countries will implement the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) framework and promote trade liberalization.
- Opposing vaccine nationalism. However, China will help Indonesia build a regional vaccine production center.
