Regulation for Who? Controversial Policy on Contract Workers Passed

Summary

The government has ratified the Government Regulation (PP) No. 35/2021 on temporary workers, the outsourcing, the working time, the employment relationship and work breaks, and the termination of employment. The employment relationship policy is secondary legislation of Law No. 11/2020 on the Job Creation or the employment cluster of the Omnibus Law on Job Creation.

The Manpower Minister, Ida Fauziyah, claimed that the drafting of the subsidiary legislation was jointly conducted in a Tripartite Forum consisting of trade/labor unions, employers, and the government. "All parties have been involved," she assured. For the record, PP No. 35/2021 consists of 66 articles.
