Pandemic Relegates Indonesia from Upper Middle-Income Country

Statistics Indonesia’s (BPS) data showed that the country’s economic growth in 2020 contracted 2.07 percent, meaning that last year’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita suffered from a year-on-year decrease. "GDP per capita in 2020 has decreased by Rp 56.9 million or around US$3,911.7," the head of BPS, Suhariyanto, revealed on Friday (2/5).

For comparison, Indonesia's GDP per capita in 2019 was at Rp 59.1 million or US$4,174.5, while in 2018, it was Rp 56 million or US$3,927.3.
