The Democratic Party is facing a serious problem. The chairman of the party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), claimed that there was an attempt to overthrow him from the chairmanship of the party founded by his father, former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). AHY stated that a group consisting of members and former members of the party conspiring against him.

AHY, quitting the army to participate in the Jakarta gubernatorial election in 2017, even pointed the finger at several ministers and important officials in Jokowi's administration for supporting the coup attempt. "I have officially sent a letter to President Joko Widodo asking for his confirmation and clarification on the report that we have received," AHY explained the letter sent to Jokowi on February 1, 2021.

One of the people allegedly involved in the Democratic Party kerfuffle was the Presidential Chief of Staff, Moeldoko. However, he denied the allegation and stated that accusing the current administration of the drama was too convenient. "Don't drag the palace into this, I remind you once again not to bother Pak Jokowi," he said.
