KPK to Investigate More PDI-P Politicians in Bansos Corruption Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigated the involvement of two politicians from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Herman Hery and Ihsan Yunus, in the COVID-19 social assistance (Bansos) corruption case in 2020. KPK spokesman, Ali Fikri, said that the commission was investigating money movements to all parties associated with social assistance projects. "We will check where the money goes," he said.
The KPK had already searched houses and offices that were allegedly affiliated with Herman and Ihsan since January 8, 2021, including PT Dwimukti Graha Elektrindo, owned by Herman Hery. The commission suspected the company acted as the primary provider of goods for the COVID-19 Social Assistance packages. Meanwhile, on January 15 to 16, the KPK searched the offices of Herman Hery's family on Panglima Polim street, in South Jakarta, and the house of Ihsan Yunus' family on Hankam Raya street, East Jakarta. However, both Herman and Ihsan denied their involvements in the Bansos corruption case, dragging down his colleague, former Social Minister, Juliari Batubara, as a suspect.
