Unicorn Seeks Funds Amid Gojek-Tokopedia Mega-Merger Issue

Indonesia's e-commerce unicorn Bukalapak recently raised US$200 million or approximately Rp 2.8 trillion in funding from Standard Chartered Plc to finance its expansion in the country. A Bloomberg source stated that Naver Corp and Mirae Asset-Naver Asia Growth Fund, both existing investors, are getting close to injecting additional funding for Bukalapak.

"The strategic partnership demonstrates Standard Chartered's confidence in Bukalapak's mission and commitment to create an impact throughout Indonesia," said Rachmat Kaimudin, Thursday (1/14). Bukalapak had raised US$100 million from Microsoft Corp, GIC Pte, and PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk (EMTK) in November 2020.
