JTB Project Finishes Faster Than Target, PEPC Cuts Costs by 11%
The completion of the Jambaran–Tiung Biru (JTB) Joint-Field Development Project’s drilling operation and rigless campaign is faster than expected. PT Pertamina EP Cepu (PEPC) President Director, Awang Lazuardi, revealed that PEPC’s Drilling Team managed to complete the project 56 days faster than the initial plan. "All of these achievements are the proof that Pertamina can excellently conduct high-risk drilling operations, both in operational aspects as well as in health, safety, security, and environmental aspects," he revealed in a written statement on Thursday (1/14).
The faster completion also means that the company is capable of cutting the operational cost and time by 11 and 21 percent respectively. The use of single trip perforation long interval technology of up to 800 feet and Smart Coiled Tubing (ACTive) Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) technology in high rate gas wells, containing 8000 ppm H2S and 34 percent CO2, in a rigless operation is the first time in Indonesia.
"I hope this technology can be applied to similar operations, in other regions managed by Pertamina’s Upstream Subholding or oil and gas contractors throughout Indonesia with similar characteristics to the JTB Field," Awang explained. The JTB Project's well testing operation capable of producing up to 60 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) also went well.
