Government to Carry Out Boeing Classic Inspection

Garuda's new management
Summary

The Transportation Ministry is inspecting all Boeing Classics series or Boeing 737-300, Boeing 737-400, and Boeing 737-500 aircraft starting January 11, 2021. The ministry’s spokesperson, Adita Irawati, said that the inspection was a follow-up to the recent incident involving a Boeing 737-500 plane operated by Sriwijaya Air. The plane, registered as PK-CLC, crashed in Seribu Islands’ waters on January 9, 2021.

The inspection instruction was stated in letter No. KP.004/1/10/DKPPU-2021. The Transportation Ministry’s Airworthiness and Aircraft Operation Directorate (DKPPU) will appoint a team to examine the operation of all Boeing 737 Classic aircraft. All airlines operating the plane have to prepare digital documents so that the team can do some of its jobs remotely.
