Jumbo Bonds Issuance to Stem the Pandemic

bonds liquidity
Summary

In early 2021, the government offers foreign currency-denominated Government Securities (SUN) with a jumbo value. The government sells two foreign currency bonds: US dollars and euros-denominated bonds with a total value of Rp 58.8 trillion. The US dollar bonds worth US$3 billion and euro bonds worth €1 billion.

The initial issuance of foreign currency debt securities is divided into four series, with tenors ranging from 10 years to 50 years. The dual-currency government bond issuance took advantage of the momentum at the beginning of the year when the market liquidity is relatively high. The proceeds from the issuance will be used to meet the financing of the State Budget (APBN), including the acceleration of economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
