Government to Appoint Tutuka Ariadji as Director General of Oil & Gas
The Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry will have a new Director-General of Oil and Gas after being vacant for more than a year. The government reportedly has appointed Prof. Ir. Tutuka Ariadji M.Sc., Ph.D. to fill this position. A source at the ESDM Ministry confirmed the news to Katadata.co.id. "Professor Tutuka Ariadji was elected as the Director-General of Oil and Gas," the source said on Wednesday (11/4).
The chairman of House Commission VII, Sugeng Suparwoto, once revealed that the definitive Director General of Oil and Gas would be determined soon. The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry reportedly demands a figure that is reliable and with integrity, full of knowledge and has extensive networking in the oil and gas sector to unravel complex challenges in the upstream oil and gas sector. The government needs to appoint qualified figures to boost exploration and production amid declining national oil reserves. "The final assessment [on Director General of Oil and Gas] has been held," he told Katadata.co.id.
