Emergency Brake on Long Holiday Weekend

Penularan COVID-19
Summary

Regional administrations anticipate people’s mobility increases during the long holiday at the end of October 2020. The Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan, decided to reimpose the transitional Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) from October 26 to November 8, 2020, as a precautionary measure against the COVID-19 case surge.

Anies also asked Jakarta residents not to travel and stay disciplined in implementing health protocols. If people took all necessary measures, Anies promised that he would implement another total PSBB as an emergency brake to curb the COVID-19 transmission.

Similar to Anies, several regional administrations also imposed various policies, such as:

1). Bali

The Bali Governor will limit people’s movement and tourist visits to 50 percent of capacity by releasing Circular No. 4253/2020 on precautions for a long holiday and collective leave in October 2020.

2). Central Java

The Central Java Governor, Ganjar Pranowo, asked Central Java residents residing outside the region not to go home and travel to his territory. Authorities will patrol tourist attractions, such as Tawangmangu, Bandungan, and Semilir village in Semarang, Belik and Owabong Tourism Villages in Banyumas, Dieng tourist areas, Mount Sikunir, and Arjuna Temple, to monitor health protocol compliance.

3). Salatiga City

The regional administration will implement strict rules for travelers to carry a COVID-19 free certificate from both rapid and swab tests.
