Omnibus Law Rejection: The Backup Plan
The Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) demanded the House of Representatives (DPR) to conduct a legislative review on the Job Creation Law. Hopefully, it would be enough to cancel the Job Creation Law by changing its content with the help of parties involved in the legislative process.
The KSPI president, Said Iqbal, revealed that he had sent letters to nine political parties and 575 House members, calling them to start a legislative review of the Job Creation Law which he considered detrimental to workers. He hoped that all factions would follow up on the request. However, Said also mentioned that the labor unions specifically asked the Democratic Party and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) factions, opposing the Job Creation Law, to ignite the move. "If the PKS and Democratic Party really reject it, they have to initiate it. Do not hide behind the mass actions," he stated on Thursday (10/22).
