Job Creation Law’s Illegal Articles: What Is the Impact?

The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction in the House of Representatives (DPR) will reveal the flaw of the Job Creation Law on Wednesday (10/21). A member of the House’s Legislation Body from PKS, Mulyanto, claimed to have discovered extra or disappeared articles and paragraphs in the Omnibus Law on Job Creation recently sent by the DPR to President Joko Widodo.

Mulyanto revealed that these findings were only the temporary result of a close examination conducted by the PKS faction’s team on the final draft of the Job Creation Law or the 812-page version. "We found that several articles or paragraphs were missing or added. We compared the draft agreed by the Working Committee with the one with the 812-page document," he revealed. However, Mulyanto was reluctant to reveal in detail the illegal articles.

Meanwhile, the deputy speaker of the DPR, Aziz Syamsuddin, ensured that there were no unlawful articles in the 812-page final draft of the Job Creation Law. "I guarantee that, according to my oath of office, of course, we cannot add more articles. It's a criminal act," he argued.
