What is the Mission of Japanese Prime Minister's Visit to Indonesia?
Japan’s Prime Minister (PM) Yoshihide Suga will visit Indonesia on October 20-21, 2020. This is Suga's first official trip abroad since taking office as PM in early September. PM Suga is scheduled to meet with President Joko Widodo to discuss cooperation in dealing with a pandemic, both from the health aspect and efforts to increase economic cooperation.
Suga, who took office in September, will follow in the footsteps of his predecessor, Shinzo Abe, by making Indonesia and Vietnam the first countries to become his foreign official destinations. "This visit shows Japan's commitment to continue to improve bilateral relations with Indonesia and translate the strategic partnerships that the two countries have had," said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, in a written statement, Monday (10/19).
