The government’s goal to boost investment through Omnibus Law on Job Creation is criticized for not protect the environment. Thirty-five global investors that manage US$4.1 trillion in assets sent letters of objection to the government.

The investors, including Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Asset Management, Boston Common Asset Management, Green Century Capital Management, Trillium Asset Management, and The Church of England Pension Board. They consider the Law on Job Creation has corrupted Indonesia's investment climate because it violates international best practice standards aims to prevent unintended harmful consequences from business activities. “[…] We have concerns about environment protection deregulation in Jon Creation Law,” the letter says.
