Big Tasks Await New Mineral and Coal Director-General, What Are They?

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif on Monday (8/10) inaugurated Ridwan Djamaluddin as the Director-General of Minerals and Coal. He expects Ridwan to ramp up Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) and investment in the mining sector. "The Director-General of Mineral and Coal as a portfolio unit of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has strategic duties and functions in the management of mineral and coal resources, including state revenues," he said during Ridwan's inauguration.

Besides, Arifin asked Ridwan to run the mineral and coal downstream processing program so that it could provide added value to the country. "I asked the Director-General to carry out the mineral and coal downstream processing program, manage permits, implement bureaucracy, and supervise mining, as well as provide guidance for mining inspectors," he said. Arifin added that Ridwan is also responsible for preparing the implementing regulations from Law No. 3/2020 on Mineral and Coal Mining.
