PDI-P Maneuvers: Mobilizing Cadres for Family Hope Program
The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) mobilized its cadres to manage social assistance under the Family Hope Program (PKH), a conditional cash transfer program. It was revealed through a letter sent by the PDIP Central Executive Board (DPP) to the management of the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) at the provincial level and the Branch Leadership Council (DPC) at the district level. The letter, dated July 15, 2020, contains an order for regional administrators to send cadres for PKH 2020 coordinator selection.
DPP PDI-P Chairman Sri Rahayu said the PKH coordinator is a strategic position to oversee the social assistance. "The party's interest is to ensure that government programs are right on target," she said. Social Minister Juliari Batubara said the PKH management recruitment process was carried out openly, and there were no special privileges for certain groups.
