Eid al-Adha Homeward Bound, Opportunity or Risk?

Summary

The government anticipates a surge in out-of-town travel or homeward bound on the Iduladha holiday, which falls on July 31, 2020. A holiday that falls on the weekend will likely invoke congestion and the surge of citizens' mobility from Jakarta to cities in West Java, Central Java, and East Java.

The Head of Traffic Corps Operations of the Indonesian Police, Senior Commissioner Rudi Antariksawan predicted that the peak of the homeward bound from Jakarta to West Java and Central Java would occur on July 30, 2020. Meanwhile, the returning people's flow would likely peak on August 2, 2020. The police also prepare traffic settings and diversion if needed. "We also anticipate surges in traffic flow on toll roads, main roads, and tourist sites," said Rudi.
