Red Zone Alarm in Jakarta: Mall and Large Offices Clusters
The COVID-19 had spread in office buildings and malls in Jakarta, just as recently been identified in the Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD). The Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI) or Indonesia Eximbank closed all central office activities for two weeks from July 25, 2020, following a confirmed case of COVID-19. "We have also routinely disinfected all offices," LPEI Corporate Secretary Agus Windiarto said on Monday (7/27).
Agus said the COVID-19 contracted employees had been hospitalized. "All employees, including people with asymptomatic cases (OTG), are asked to undergo an independent swab test," he said. Another case was identified in Pacific Century Place, in which a CITI employee contracted the virus. Moreover, an employee of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) at Equity Tower, SCBD, also contracted the virus.
COVID-19 infection is not only happening in offices but also begins to spread in malls or shopping centers. At Plaza Senayan, Central Jakarta, a Christian Dior boutique had to close its store since Saturday (7/25) until Tuesday (7/28) following a confirmed case. Chairman of the Indonesian Shopping Center Management Association (APPBI) Stefanus Ridwan said it was the first positive case of COVID-19 in malls in Indonesia.
