The House of Representatives (DPR) held a fit and proper test on three candidates for Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) this week. The three candidates were proposed by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo as a replacement for Erwin Rijanto, who finished his term in June. The candidates are Juda Agung, who is currently the Assistant Governor of the BI Macroprudential Policy Department, Aida S. Budiman (Assistant Governor of the BI Economic and Monetary Policy Department), and Doni Primanto Joewono (Executive Director of the BI Human Resources Department).

On Tuesday (7/7), Commission XI of the DPR - which oversees the financial and banking sector - held a feasibility test for Juda Agung and Aida Budiman. On Wednesday (7/8), it was Doni Joewono's turn to undergo a fit and proper test. That day, Commission XI should have immediately announced the results of the test, who would finally be elected as the new BI Deputy Governor. However, the commission ordered each member to consult with their respective factions first. Deputy Chairman of Commission XI Eriko Sotarduga said the decision-making meeting would be held on Monday, June 13. Reportedly, this delay was due to split political support for two candidates.
