Exploring the 2020 Election Coalition
Several political party elites increase meeting intensities to explore the coalition possibility ahead of 2020 simultaneous regional elections (Pilkada) in 270 regions. On Monday (7/6), the chairman of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, met with the chairman of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto. Prabowo admitted that the meeting with Airlangga was to discuss the political development in the country and the 2020 regional elections. “We discussed the cooperation between Golkar and Gerindra in certain regional elections,” Prabowo revealed.
On the same day, the chairwoman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Grace Natalie, met with chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Muhaimin Iskandar. Both parties have formed a coalition for the upcoming regional elections in West Sumatra with Faldo Maldini (chairman of PSI’s West Sumatra branch) and Febby Dt Bangso (chairman of PKB’s West Sumatra branch) as the governor and deputy governor candidate, respectively.
