How Premier Oil Gets a Second Exploration Extension in Tuna Block
Premier Oil finds it hard to carry out any oil and gas exploration in Tuna Block due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides, the permit for such kind of activity will expire this year. As a response, the deputy head of the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Task Force (SKK Migas), Fatar Yani Abdurrahman, said that the task force planned to give Premier Oil a second permit extension to explore the block. However, SKK Migas remained undecided on the duration of the extension. “It all depends on our study,” he revealed to Katadata.co.id.
Fatar also explained that SKK Migas was currently waiting for the updates on Premier Oil’s new partner in the Tuna Block. The contract demanded the England-based oil and gas company looking for a partner to manage the block. The development of the Tuna Block is high-risk since it borders with the South China Sea. “We are waiting for Premier Oil’s proposal (on partners),” he said.
