Facebook and PayPal joined Google and Tencent as the investors of Gojek, recently on a mission to boost the growth of the digital economy in Southeast Asia by focusing on payment and financial services. New funds from Facebook, PayPal, Google, Tencent, and other global companies would allow Gojek to dominate the micro, small, and medium enterprise (UMKM) market. “Gojek’s payments business, GoPay, has long been focused on increasing access to the digital economy among MSMEs,” Gojek management wrote in a statement on Wednesday (6/3).
