What Happens When Jakarta’s PSBB Ends?
The Jakarta administration planned to end the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) on June 4, 2020, and replace it with the smaller-scope restraints per sub-district and community unit (RW) in the red zone. Jakarta deputy governor for civil registry and settlements, Suharti, revealed that the policy was called Local Social Restrictions (PSBL).
Suharti explained that PSBL would focus more on densely populated areas with a high probability of COVID-19 transmission. “We are monitoring about 62 community units where the transmission rates are still high,” she stated on Tuesday (6/2). Meanwhile, South Jakarta Deputy Mayor, Isnawa Adji, said that the PSBL would employ the incidence rate indicator set by the Health Agency. “We will contain the community units in the red zone and restrict the movements to and from the areas,” he continued.
