How to Reopen Trade Sector in the New Normal Era

The Trade Ministry issued the technical regulations on operating standards for the trade sector during the New Normal period through Circular Letter (SE) No. 12/2020. “The letter’s goal is to regulate any trade activity to maintain the availability and unrestricted distribution of goods and services needed by the public during the COVID-19 emergency period,” the letter stated.

The Trade Minister, Agus Suparmanto, signed the letter on May 28, 2020. It refers to President Joko Widodo’s instruction on Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) to maintain the supply chain. However, the letter also contains health protocols for various trade activities.
