PHE Jambi Merang Seismic Survey to Finish in July 2020

Summary

PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) Jambi Merang has conducted a 2D marine seismic survey in open areas along 22,943 kilometers or 76.4 percent of the total 30,000 kilometers. Upstream Director of PT Pertamina Dharmawan H. Samsu said the activity was carried out using the ELSA Regent Ship and finished at the beginning of the third quarter of this year. "Although full of challenges, we are optimistic that the survey will be completed by mid-July 2020," he said in a press release on Tuesday (5/26).

According to the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKK Migas) Head Dwi Soetjipto, the 2D seismic survey by PHE Jambi Merang uses the latest technology with parameters designed to accommodate the deepest exploration targets in the history of seismic surveys in Indonesia. "It is expected to create new working areas that can improve the upstream oil and gas exploration or investment climate in Indonesia in the future," he said in his written statement on Tuesday (5/26).
